This one day comprehensive programme will enhance participants knowledge, skills and ability to effectively develop and improve capability and confidence in their teams. The training has a mixture of legislation, best practice and hands on content.
Activities include case study review and role play to ensure that key knowledge and skills gained are practised.
PROGRAMME CONTENT
Module 1: The Value of Performance Management
✓ Understand the benefits and importance of managing performance effectively
▪ What it is and why it matters and the consequences if you don’t
✓ Understand how the performance management process should work
✓ Motivation: Discover what makes people perform at their best
✓ Overview - Legislation and Best Practice Guidelines.
▪ When to move from Performance Management to Disciplinary Procedure.
Module 2: Performance Meetings
✓ Effective listening - Use listening and coaching skills to ensure that you understand the other person and to encourage them to take responsibility
✓ Planning effective and regular one to one’s
✓ Meeting Preparation
✓ The One to One Meeting - Identify what needs recording and what does not
✓ After the Meeting – Personal Performance Action Plan
Module 3: You the Manager/Supervisor
✓ Identify what behaviour is causing the employee to underperform
✓ Confront poor performance – Handling challenging situations & problem-solving
✓ Understand how to get people to take responsibility for their performance
✓ Your Management Style - Identifying your personal leadership and coaching style
▪ Changing your personal leadership style to get the most from the individual performer
▪ Create your own plan for individuals based on their situation and personal styles
Module 4: Performance Goals
✓ Identify how to set measurable and effective short and long-term objectives with clear accountabilities
✓ Setting S.M.A.R.T. performance targets.
TRAINING OUTCOMES At the end participants will have the ability to:
✓ Understand the link between effective performance management and business results.
✓ Monitor and measure performance against agreed goals.
✓ Confidently and positively deal with difficult performance issues.
✓ Recognise when to give formal and informal motivational feedback.
✓ Handle difficult conversations.
✓ Practice specific tools for day-to-day Performance Management.
✓ Motivate their team.
